Colorado Springs native, Hannah Plush was one recipient of this year’s $250 CBAA scholarship.
Hannah is a junior at the University of Wyoming and is studying Social work, eventually she would like to earn her commission and branch Medical Service Corps as a Social Worker.
Hannah chose to come to UW because she loves the mountains and the small town feel of Laramie. But in coming to UW she discovered ROTC which has helped her narrow her focus as she plans for the future.
“I decided to join ROTC because I felt it was a good way to go for what I wanted to do. I knew I wanted to work with the Military specifically, it just wasn’t until my second year here that I found out that I could do that through the Army,” she said.
“I thought that being military might give me some understanding into the culture that those who work with veterans and their families don’t get the chance to fully grasp. So far its really worked out, I am much more focused and determined. Its really opened my eyes to other careers in the Army that I am also considering,” she concluded.
Hannah hasn’t decided if she wants to go active duty or join the National Guard when she commissions next spring but in the mean time she’s enjoying her experience as a cadet. In addition to her responsibilities as an MSIII, she plans to compete in the Bataan Death March this spring
“I love the expectations and standards the program and cadre hold me to. I also love the camaraderie and environment it has to offer,” she said.
